What’s happening around the West Sound this weekend
Words by Leif Utne
Spring has sprung, and there’s so much to do around the West Sound this weekend!
Friday, April 1: to kick off the weekend, come raise a glass with us at Tideland’s Poulsbo launch party. We’re co-hosting this month’s Vibe Coworks Free First Fridays happy hour. And you’re invited. If you work from home and haven’t checked out Vibe Coworks yet, come give this gorgeous coworking space a try for free. (Coworking at Vibe is always free on the first Fridays.) Then join us at 4 PM as we move next door to Crabtree Kitchen + Bar for the monthly Vibe members’ happy hour. First round of drinks is on us.
First Fridays Art Walks: As happens every first Friday of the month, the art galleries, cafes and bars of downtown Bremerton and Bainbridge will be crawling with art aficionados getting their culture fix. The Bremerton First Friday action runs from 5:00-8:00 PM and centers around two main hubs: Pacific Avenue between 4th and 9th Streets, as well as across the bridge in downtown Manette. Meanwhile, the Bainbridge Island First Friday Art Walk goes from 6:00-8:00 PM and is concentrated in central Winslow.
At 7:30 PM, folk-rock legend Melissa Etheridge will rock the house at Bremerton’s historic Admiral Theatre, in town on her One Way Out tour. Act fast. As of this writing the show was nearly sold out.
After two rough years, community theaters are back in force. This weekend, the Bremerton Community Theater kicks off its production of the musical comedy Something Rotten! a farcical tale of the origins of musical theater (runs April 1 - May 1). If you love old-time radio detective shows, you won’t want to miss Radio on the Air Presents Mystery & Suspense at the Jewelbox—where live actors read the scripts of three classic radio crime dramas. Only two shows left: Saturday, April 2 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, April 3 at 2:00 PM.
As word-lovers, we’ve been anxiously awaiting the opening of the brand-new KRL branch library in Silverdale. The new library, located just south of Central Kitsap High School on Anderson Hill Road, kicks off its grand opening celebration on Saturday, April 2 at 10:00 AM, featuring live music and food.
Finally, on Sunday, April 3 at 4:00 PM, renowned local jazz pianist Bill Anschell and his trio will perform in Winslow at the Waterfront Park Community Center.
